Truk Lagoon Protected from wind and ocean swells, this lagoon has often been described as a placid lake in the middle of the Pacific
Ocean. The island of Truk, also known a Chuuk,
offers the greatest concentration of wrecks anywhere in the world. The
number, variety and size of the wrecks and the spectacular marine life
that grows on them are unequalled. Truk is a small island group in
Micronesia, and is considered a worldwide jewel of wreck diving, with
at least 60 World War II ships sitting virtually untouched scattered
across a 50 mile long lagoon area. These wrecks are covered in some of
the most impressive coral growth and marine life in the Pacific,
holding the very best of the undersea world and maritime history in one
geographical area. Protected from wind and ocean swells, this lagoon
has often been described as a placid lake in the middle of the Pacific
Ocean.
In
February of 1944, Japan's fortress of Truk Lagoon was attacked by
Allied aircraft carriers and related cruisers, destroyers, and subs.
During two days and one night planes from these aircraft carriers
conducted continuous bombing, strafing, and torpedo runs on ships
anchored in the lagoon. More than 400 Japanese planes were destroyed
and some 50-60 ships were believed sunk. Those two days of devastating
air assault created what is today known as the “Ghost Fleet of Truk
Lagoon.”
The trip includes three to five dives per day off the 132 foot, air conditioned, world class live aboard dive boat Odyssey.
Spacious rooms, private in suite facilities, a large entertainment
lounge adorn the vessel and all meals, beverages and nitrox are
included. Warm, relatively clear, current free waters of this area
provide comfortable diving for novice to expert.

Guam
Guam is America’s gateway to the Western
Pacific and Asia as well the crossroads of all travel to Micronesia’s
outer islands. A U.S. Territory, Guam is rich with history from the
Spanish in the 1500’s to World War I and II.
A day’s tour provides many great memories.
Guam
sits atop the Marianas Trench, which is the deepest Ocean in the world
and sports the only place in the world where divers can dive a
shipwreck from both world wars on one tank of air. The 335 ft German
auxiliary cruiser the SMS Cormoran, and the 464 ft Japanese cargo
vessel the Tokai Maru.
Palau
Palau
is the shining star of Micronesia for serious divers. This incredible
cluster of islands and giant lagoon offer the most diverse range of
diving experiences, plus several one-of-a-kind attractions that cannot
be matched anywhere else in the world.
Inside the
lagoon is a glistening flat ocean surface, sprinkled with over 400 rock
islands. These unusual formations are odd looking, mushroom shaped
islands topped with a thick green growth of tropical foliage. Small
marine organisms have spent centuries boring into the limestone base of
these islands, sculpting them into fantasy mushrooms. Clustered
together, the rock islands form lovely and intricate passageways
through which boats can motor at full speed. This is one of the most
popular tours in Palau.
Beneath the surface, Palau
has become world renowned for its spectacular drop-offs. Vertical walls
begin knee deep, at a depth of two feet, and plummet straight down to
more than 1,000 ft, diving these magnificent formations is an
exhilarating experience. And yet Palau offers much, much more.
A
landlocked marine lake offers a unique opportunity to dive with a
million non-stinging jellyfish. There are blue holes, giant undersea
tunnels, stalactite filled caves, and a dozer more oddities that make
Palau Lagoon different from any other place n the word. Lodging is at
the Palau Pacific Resort a
64-acre garden Paradise overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This luxury
resort offers the finest accommodations in all of Micronesia.
